DORAL, Fla. – Professional boxer Gervonta Davis was arrested Friday morning after an alleged assault on his ex-girlfriend on Father’s Day, police said.

According to an arrest report, Davis, 30, was taken into custody in Miami Beach and transported to the Doral Police Department. The incident reportedly occurred on June 15.

Police state that Davis and the victim had been in a romantic relationship for four years and share two children. On Father’s Day, Davis went to his ex-girlfriend’s home to pick up their children, but a verbal argument quickly escalated into a physical confrontation.

The report indicated that Davis ordered his ex-girlfriend to remove their children from his car, claiming he no longer wanted to take them. As she leaned into the vehicle to retrieve their daughter, he allegedly struck her in the back of the head and slapped her in the face, resulting in a minor cut to her lip.

The victim sent a text to her mother during the altercation, stating that Davis was assaulting her and asking for help. The mother responded and witnessed her daughter visibly upset while arguing with Davis.

According to the arrest report, the mother recorded part of the altercation on her cellphone, which showed Davis throwing a small box at the victim.

At the police station, Davis declined to fill out or sign a Miranda warning form. He was arrested on a battery charge and is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. His bond has not yet been set.
