June in Buffalo 2024 Showcases World-Renowned New Music Festival

The annual June in Buffalo, a renowned music festival and conference highlighting emerging composers, is set to take place from June 9 to 15 on the North Campus. Led by Jonathan Golove, the event will gather twenty-five exceptional student composers from various parts of the world, selected from a rigorous application process. Alongside, distinguished faculty composers including Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon, Karola Obermüller, Hilda Paredes, and Amy Williams will mentor the students throughout the week with coaching sessions, lectures, and performances of their own work.

The festival will also feature performances by notable ensembles and musicians such as the renowned Arditti Quartet from London, the Slee Sinfonietta, the [Switch~ Ensemble], Dieter Hennings, and vocalists Nicholas Isherwood and Tiffany Du Mouchelle. The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, a regular participant, will kickstart the event on June 9.

June in Buffalo is hosted by the Department of Music and the Center for 21st Century Music. The weekdays will feature free afternoon concerts open to the public, with tickets priced at $10 for evening concerts and the Saturday matinee. All UB students with valid IDs will receive complimentary tickets to each event.

Throughout the week, evening performances will include the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Nicholas Isherwood, Tiffany Du Mouchelle, members of the Slee Sinfonietta, and the prestigious Arditti Quartet. The concert schedule will offer a rich blend of contemporary compositions by both senior and participant composers in an immersive musical experience.
