Byd Electric Vehicles Launch In Guatemala

In a significant move to expand its presence in Central America, Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer BYD has launched four of its models in Guatemala. The launch, which took place at the Auto Feria in Guatemala City, introduced the Han, Tang, Song Plus DM-i, and Seal models to the Guatemalan market.

This initiative marks a crucial step in BYD’s strategy to penetrate the Central American market, providing local drivers with advanced, environmentally friendly transportation options. According to Edward Davis, commercial manager of Grupo ConfiƱo, BYD’s distributor in Guatemala, the launch is expected to enhance the local electric mobility experience.

BYD, the largest NEV maker in China, has been experiencing record sales, having sold 502,657 NEVs in October alone, surpassing the 500,000 mark for the first time. The company has also seen a rise in overseas sales, with 31,192 vehicles sold in international markets in October, a 2.20% increase year-on-year.

The four models launched in Guatemala are among BYD’s best-selling vehicles and are already available in several other overseas markets, including Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Costa Rica, and Panama. This expansion underscores BYD’s commitment to providing green transportation options globally.

The launch event highlighted the features of the new vehicles, including smooth driving experiences, advanced smart features, and environmentally friendly performance. This move is expected to contribute to the growing adoption of electric vehicles in Guatemala and the broader Central American region.
