Cal Yee Farm Chocolate Recall Products

SUISUN VALLEY, Calif. — A California-based snack company has issued a voluntary recall for several chocolate and yogurt-covered products due to undeclared allergens, including milk, soy, wheat, sesame, synthetic dye, and almonds. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has classified the recall as Class I, its highest risk level, indicating the potential for serious or life-threatening allergic reactions.

The recall affects products such as Dark Chocolate Walnuts, Dark Chocolate Raisins, Dark Chocolate Almonds, and others sold under the Cal Yee’s or Cal Yee Farm brands. No illnesses have been reported to date, but the company warns that individuals with allergies or severe sensitivities to the undeclared ingredients could face significant health risks.

The products were distributed in California, Arizona, Virginia, New Mexico, Texas, Tennessee, Oregon, Ohio, and Pennsylvania through the company’s retail store at 5158 Clayton Road in Suisun Valley, California, and online. Additionally, Butter Toffee Almonds were sold at Boa Vista Orchards’ retail store in Placerville, California.

Affected items were packaged in clear plastic zippered pouches in 8-ounce, 1-pound, 2-pound, and 5-pound bags with bright yellow labels. Dark Chocolate Apricots were sold in plastic containers with white or yellow labels, while Fruit Baskets 2909 and 2921 were packaged in baskets with yellow labels.

The recall was initiated after an FDA inspection revealed that the products contained undeclared allergens. Cal Yee Farm LLC announced the recall on Dec. 12, and the FDA issued its classification on Dec. 14. The agency reclassified the recall as part of its routine process, updating its Enforcement Report for the week of Jan. 29.

“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk, soy, wheat, sesame, FD&C #6 (synthetic dye), and almonds run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products,” the company stated.

Customers with allergies are advised to discard the products or return them to the company for a full refund. For more information, consumers can contact Cal Yee Farm LLC at (707) 425-5327 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Pacific time, Monday through Friday.
