Celine Dion Opens Up About Struggles With Stiff Person Syndrome

Celine Dion bared the challenges she faces living with stiff person syndrome in an emotional interview on NBC‘s Today show.

The renowned Grammy-winning artist described the sensation as feeling like “somebody is strangling you” when attempting to sing, demonstrating by pushing her throat to illustrate.

She revealed that the spasms associated with the condition can affect various parts of her body including the abdomen, spine, and ribs, even causing her to break ribs during severe episodes.

Stiff person syndrome is a rare and progressive nervous system disorder that impacts the brain and spinal cord, according to medical experts.

Last year, Dion announced the cancellation of her ‘Courage World Tour‘ and a CNN report suggested that she may not tour again given her health concerns.

A documentary titled ‘Celine Dion: Through the Eyes of the World’ is set to premier on Prime Video on June 25, shedding light on her journey with the condition. Hoda Kotb conducted the heart-to-heart interview with Dion for NBC.
