ChatGPT Users Report Unexplained Service Outage Worldwide

LONDON, UK — ChatGPT users experienced an unexpected outage on Wednesday, leading to a surge of error reports from around the globe.
More than 1,000 complaints were logged in the United Kingdom, while nearly 500 were reported in the United States, according to Down Detector. The platform’s error messages included, “A network error occurred” and “Hmm.. something seems to have gone wrong,” prompting confusion among its 400 million weekly users.
Social media has been flooded with user frustrations following the outage, with one user on X stating, “ChatGPT, my work buddy, is down again.” Another user remarked, “Apparently ChatGPT is down globally. I thought my internet was glitching,” reflecting concerns about the widespread nature of the issue.
OpenAI, the owner of ChatGPT, acknowledged the problems and stated it is currently investigating the situation. Their service status page indicated that problems began around 9 a.m. BST, confirming that some users are facing elevated error rates and latency.
OpenAI has encouraged users to check their internet connections and contact support via their help center if issues persist. As of now, technical teams are working to rectify the problems affecting this popular platform.
