Colorado Congressman Lauren Boebert Ranks Fifth in Straw Poll for Re-election Bid
Colorado Congressman Lauren Boebert, who recently announced her bid for re-election in the 4th District after switching districts, has ranked fifth in a straw poll among voters.
Boebert, who currently represents Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District, made the decision to run in the more Republican-leaning 4th District after Rep. Ken Buck‘s retirement.
The straw poll, held after the first debate among GOP candidates running for the 4th District, revealed that Boebert faces an uphill battle in her re-election campaign.
The poll results showed that Boebert received 12 votes, placing her in the middle of the nine-candidate pack. Leading the straw poll were Jerry Sonnenberg with 22 votes, Mike Lynch with 20 votes, Deborah Flora with 18 votes, and Richard Holtorf with 17 votes.
Colorado Politics reported that the straw poll was not a scientifically conducted poll, but rather a reflection of the attendees’ preferences. Only candidates who attended the debate were included in the poll.
During the debate, Boebert defended her decision to switch districts, addressing accusations of carpetbagging. She emphasized her commitment to fighting for the values shared by the voters in the 4th District.
Tammy Klein, the debate organizer, expressed disappointment over the low participation rate in the straw poll, noting that the candidates had limited time to rally their supporters for the event.
While the straw poll does not determine the final outcome of the election, it sheds light on the initial perceptions and support among voters in the district.
