INDIANAPOLIS — Colts cornerback Ward is back on the field after recovering from a severe concussion suffered last month. He described the incident as a jolting collision that left him motionless and hospitalized.

During pregame warm-ups before an October 12 game against the Colts, Ward collided with tight end Ogletree and lost consciousness. He was ruled out of the match and was placed on injured reserve a week later, missing five games.

“It was crazy,” Ward recounted. “One moment I’m going for the ball. Next moment I’m knocked out, laying on my back and getting carted off the field in a wheelchair. I didn’t see him coming.”

Ward said he experienced persistent dizziness and other severe symptoms for nearly a month. “I was dizzy for damn near a month. That wasn’t normal,” he shared. “It was a traumatic injury for me, a lot of emotions… So, it was pretty tough. But I’m feeling good, though.”

Now fully cleared, Ward is set to play alongside new teammate Gardner in the Colts’ secondary as they prepare to face the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium this Sunday. Ward expressed his excitement about the upcoming matchup.

“I think it was a good trade. It’s going to help our team a lot. I’ve never played with a corner that was as good as me or maybe got more talent than me in some areas. I’m excited to go out there and play with them,” Ward said.

His return comes at a crucial moment as the Colts look to improve their season record in a tight playoff race.
