Corruption Allegations Strain Relationship Between Edwin Sodi and Karen Zulu

Corruption-accused businessman Edwin Sodi has reportedly separated from his influencer girlfriend, Karen Zulu.

According to reports, the couple’s relationship became strained amidst investigations into Sodi’s businesses and the recent auctioning of his assets.

A source close to the couple revealed that the 50-year-old Sodi had requested Zulu to refrain from showcasing their lavish lifestyle on social media, a request that Zulu allegedly ignored.

“Edwin is facing significant challenges. He had asked Karen multiple times to tone down her social media presence, as all eyes were on them due to their relationship. However, Karen, being the influencer she is, continued to share aspects of their affluent life online, essentially exposing Edwin and disregarding his wishes,” the source disclosed.

The insider further mentioned that Sodi decided to withdraw the gifts he had given Zulu, including the designer bags she frequently displayed on her Instagram account.

“Karen failed to understand the situation. Edwin is under intense scrutiny, yet she continued making demands of him, coming off as unsupportive,” the source added.

Additionally, Zulu took down all their shared photos from her social media accounts, including posts from Sodi’s lavish birthday party, which was held at his mansion in Morningside in September 2023.

The same mansion, now up for sale with an asking price of millions, has been subject to scrutiny following allegations of financial misconduct against Sodi’s company, NJR Projects.

Recent reports highlighted that Sodi’s collection of vehicles faces potential seizure after an insurance company, Hollard Insure, filed for a court order to take possession of the assets.

This legal action stems from NJR Projects’ alleged failure to repay the Development Bank of Southern Africa over R39 million, funds that were advanced for a project to upgrade a correctional facility in Parys, Free State.

The vehicle assets in jeopardy include various models such as BMWX3, Chevrolet Utility, Ford Fiesta, Ford Ranger, Hino trucks, Mazda CX3, Mercedes Benz, Nissan NP200, Toyota, and VW vehicles, among others.
