Crivitz Man Sentencing Sexual Assault Courtroom

MARINETTE COUNTY, Wis. (AP) — A Crivitz man was sentenced Monday to 25 years in prison and 15 years of extended supervision after being convicted of Repeated Sexual Assault of a Child. Jonathan Janusak, 32, was found guilty following a three-day jury trial in November 2024.

According to the Marinette County District Attorney’s Office, Janusak committed at least three sexual assaults against a victim who was between the ages of 12 and 14 during the crimes, which occurred between May 2022 and February 2024. District Attorney DeShea Morrow emphasized during the sentencing that a lengthy prison term was necessary to protect the community.

“The defendant has shown no accountability for his actions,” Morrow stated at the hearing. “A maximum sentence is warranted to ensure public safety.” Janusak’s 25-year prison sentence marks the maximum allowed for his charge.

Janusak also has a 2010 conviction for 3rd Degree Sexual Assault, indicating a pattern of sexual offenses. The sentencing reinforces a broader commitment by local authorities to address and penalize sexual crimes against minors rigorously.

“Today’s sentencing sends a clear message that our community will not tolerate such behavior,” Morrow added. “We stand firmly with the victims and their families.”
