Cyberpunk 2077 Hits Milestone with Latest Patch and DLSS 4 Support
WARSAW, Poland — CD Projekt Red released patch 2.21 for Cyberpunk 2077 on Tuesday, introducing DLSS 4 support for PC players and addressing numerous bugs across all platforms. The update marks a significant milestone for the game, which has now achieved “Overwhelmingly Positive” recent reviews on Steam, three years after its troubled launch.
The patch, available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, focuses on technical improvements and fixes. Most notably, it adds DLSS 4 with multi-frame generation for Nvidia‘s RTX 50-series GPUs, promising up to three times the frame rate per traditionally rendered frame. RTX 40-series users will also benefit from faster single-frame generation with reduced memory usage.
CD Projekt Red also addressed lingering issues with photo mode, vehicle customization, and character creation. Players can now save character rotations and positions in photo mode presets, while fixes for texture and color inconsistencies in vehicle customization have been implemented. Additionally, Johnny Silverhand, a key character in the game, will now appear more frequently in the passenger seat during car rides, resolving previous duplication glitches.
“We’re thrilled to see the game reaching new heights with this patch,” a CD Projekt Red spokesperson said. “The support from our community has been incredible, and we’re committed to delivering the best experience possible.”
Cyberpunk 2077 has come a long way since its rocky debut in December 2020. Recent reviews on Steam show 95% positivity among the last 12,698 reviews, a stark contrast to its initial reception. Overall, the game maintains an 84% positive rating across 715,558 reviews, reflecting its journey from a controversial launch to a polished, beloved title.
Despite the improvements, CD Projekt Red has indicated that this may be the final major update for Cyberpunk 2077 as the studio shifts focus to The Witcher 4 and the Cyberpunk sequel, codenamed “Orion.” However, the company has previously backtracked on similar statements, leaving the door open for future updates.
For now, players can enjoy enhanced visuals and smoother gameplay, thanks to the latest patch. Whether this marks the end of Cyberpunk 2077’s development or just another chapter in its ongoing evolution remains to be seen.
