DALLAS, Texas – The Dallas Wings announced Tuesday they have fired head coach Chris Koclanes after just one season. Koclanes, hired by executive vice president and general manager Curt Miller, faced challenges as the team failed to meet expectations.

The Wings ended the 2025 season with a league-worst record of 10-34, a slight improvement from the 9-31 finish under former coach Latricia Trammell the previous year. Miller stated, “As we enter a pivotal point in our team’s future, we felt a change in leadership at this time was best for our organization.”

Koclanes’ tenure included bright spots, with rookie star Paige Bueckers being a standout performer. Bueckers averaged 19.2 points per game and 5.4 assists in her first WNBA season, marking her as one of the league’s most promising players. Despite this, the Wings struggled defensively, ranking near the bottom for points allowed per game.

During the season, the team dealt with numerous injuries, causing a lack of consistency. Only one player, veteran forward, played in at least 40 of the 44 games. Additionally, the Wings used 18 different starting lineups, tying for the most in the league.

Koclanes is the third coach to be fired this offseason, following Sandy Brondello of the New York Liberty and Noelle Quinn of the Seattle Storm. Seeking a fresh approach, the Wings will immediately begin a national search for Koclanes’ replacement.
