SAN FRANCISCO, California — The excitement builds for Day Two of the Laver Cup at the Chase Center as Team Europe aims to extend its 3-1 lead over Team World. The day session kicks off at 1 p.m. PT, featuring Alexander Zverev of Germany versus Australia’s Alex de Minaur.

Zverev, currently ranked No. 3 in the PIF ATP Rankings, boasts an impressive 8-2 record against de Minaur. The German, who led Team Europe in points, will look to maintain that advantage. “I’m ready to give my best again, just like yesterday,” Zverev said.

On the other hand, de Minaur, ranked No. 8, faces a crucial matchup as he looks to regain momentum after battling injuries over the past year. “I have the chance to prove myself again,” de Minaur stated. “I’m feeling strong and eager to compete on this stage.”

The afternoon will also see debutante Holger Rune of Denmark take on Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo. Rune is coming off a five-set victory over Cerundolo at Roland Garros in 2023, but both players seem ready after strong performances in previous tournaments.

In the evening session at 7 p.m. PT, world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz will clash with American Taylor Fritz. Alcaraz leads their head-to-head record 3-0, but Fritz is eager to turn the tide after a recent defeat in Berlin. “I’m motivated and feeling refreshed after my last matches,” Fritz said.

The stakes are high on this second day, with matches worth two points. Team Europe aims to build a substantial lead, while Team World will be looking to close the gap and regain control in this exciting display of talent and competition.
