Denise Scott Completes Cancer Treatment Journey

Australian comedian and actress Denise Scott has recently wrapped up her last round of chemotherapy in May 2024, marking the end of a tough 17-month battle with breast cancer.

Known for her role in the hit show Mother and Son, Denise walked the red carpet at a recent event, where she took a moment to share her journey with New Idea. She opened up about how her recent experiences have shaped her viewing habits this year.

Despite having a chaotic year filled with cancer treatments, Denise pointed out that she managed to binge-watch Asher Keddie’s show Fake, even though it’s not a light-hearted watch. She mentioned, “Weirdly, because I’ve been having cancer treatment, I haven’t been able to watch stuff on screen at all and only sought out, if I did, something happy.” Nevertheless, she found the show to be “so brilliant.”

Denise, now 69, first revealed her battle with cancer in 2023 after undergoing six months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. In an emotional update, she detailed her rigorous treatment schedule, stating, “I’ve been having treatment for breast cancer HER2 positive pretty much non-stop for 17 months.”

Her treatment journey included chemotherapy, a lumpectomy, radiation sessions, and additional chemotherapy, with a recent mammogram showing clear results. Expressing her gratitude, Denise thanked everyone who supported her during this challenging time, reflecting on the massive changes she faced, including losing her hair.
