Tron Ares Sequel Cast

BURBANK, California — Disney has confirmed that ‘TRON: Ares‘ will hit theaters on October 10, 2025. This marks the third film in the TRON franchise, following 2010’s ‘TRON: Legacy.’

After more than 40 years since the original film debuted, ‘TRON: Ares’ offers a fresh narrative in which a digital program named Ares attempts to enter the human world. The plot twists the traditional theme of entering the digital realm, pushing the franchise into a new direction.

Actor Jared Leto, who plays the titular character Ares, expressed his enthusiasm for the project in 2024. ‘I’m very excited for ‘TRON: Ares’ coming to fruition,’ he stated. He also hinted at the possible return of legacy characters, adding, ‘And who knows? Maybe it’s not the last anyone will see of Sam and Quorra.’

The film will also see the return of Jeff Bridges as Kevin Flynn. Joining them in the cast are other notable names including Hannah John-Kamen and Hasan Minhaj. At Disney’s D23 Expo, the cast revealed more about their characters. ‘My character’s last name is Dillinger, which doesn’t always mean great things,’ Peters said, referencing the antagonist from the original.

New to the franchise is the character Eve, played by Lee, who helps facilitate Ares’ transition into the real world. Leto commented on the significant role his character plays, stating, ‘Ares is a program looking to make the real world his own, permanently.’

Attendees at the D23 event got a sneak peek of the film, alongside the official trailer released on July 17, 2023. Leto showcased his elaborate costume, which he described as ‘like wearing a piece of armor head to toe.’ He noted the suit weighs about 45 pounds yet maintains flexibility, emphasizing the warrior-like essence of Ares.

The film’s soundtrack will be composed by iconic band Nine Inch Nails, known for their industrial rock sound. The announcement was made in August 2024, with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross confirming their involvement.

‘TRON: Ares’ was filmed in Vancouver, Canada, with production starting in early 2024 after facing delays. Director Joachim Rønning highlighted the challenges faced during filming, thanking the crew and cast for their dedication.

As the TRON franchise gains momentum, fans can enjoy attractions in both Shanghai Disneyland and Disney World, featuring the iconic lightcycles. Additionally, a new video game titled ‘TRON: Identity’ and the animated series can be accessed on Disney+, further enriching the TRON universe.
