Duke Energy Florida Continues Power Restoration Efforts Post-Hurricane Milton
Duke Energy Florida is making significant progress in restoring power to areas affected by Hurricane Milton. As of Sunday, October 13, the number of power outages has decreased from over 1 million to approximately 390,000.
Customers in several counties, including Brevard, Citrus, Hernando, Highlands, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole, Sumter, and Volusia, are expected to have their power restored by 11:59 p.m. ET on Sunday, October 13. However, customers in Pinellas and Pasco counties will have to wait until 11:59 p.m. ET on Tuesday, October 15, for their power to be restored.
Todd Fountain, Duke Energy Florida storm director, expressed gratitude for the customers’ patience and support, stating that the company is working diligently to restore power as quickly as possible. However, customers who experienced extensive damage or flooding may face extended outages, and additional time may be required for restoration.
Customers can report power outages through various methods, including visiting duke-energy.com, using the Duke Energy mobile app, texting OUT to 57801, or calling the automated outage reporting system at 800.228.8485. The most up-to-date information about power outages can be accessed on Duke Energy’s Outage Map or by enrolling in Outage Alerts.
It is also important for customers to note that if their property’s meter base, breaker panel, or customer-owned electrical wiring is damaged, they should contact their local municipalities for guidance, as inspections may be required after repairs are complete.
