Early Morning Mass Shooting in Elkhart Leaves One Dead, Eleven Injured

ELKHART, Ind. (WNDU) — One person is dead, and eleven others are injured after a mass shooting early Sunday morning in Elkhart. Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 300 block of West Garfield Avenue just after 1 a.m.
Officers arrived to find twelve gunshot victims. One of those individuals later died, but police have not yet released their name. Authorities said some victims have received treatment and returned home, though it is unclear how many remain hospitalized.
Investigators believe that multiple shooters were involved in the incident. The crime scene spans a substantial area between the 200 and 400 blocks of West Garfield Avenue. Crime scene technicians are continuing to collect evidence from the vicinity.

Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson expressed his condolences in a statement, saying he is “devastated by this profound loss and trauma,” and noted that the impact of the shooting will linger. As the investigation unfolds, authorities continue to seek leads in the case.
