X App Global Outage Users Frustrated

San Francisco, CA — Elon Musk‘s social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), was hit by a significant global outage on March 30, 2025, preventing users from accessing the app or posting updates.

The downtime sparked widespread frustration among millions of users, reflecting the platform’s crucial role in real-time communication. The outage affected major regions including the United States, the United Kingdom, India, and Canada, leaving users unable to access their timelines or post updates.

According to reports from Downdetector, the majority of issues stemmed from difficulties with the X application itself, which accounted for 51% of all complaints. Issues with the website made up 29% of the reported problems, while the remaining 20% involved server connection issues.

This outage follows a sequence of service interruptions that have plagued X in recent weeks. Earlier in March, X had experienced intermittent service throughout the day on the 10th, with reports of problems peaking at over 40,000 globally. At that time, 56% of affected users reported issues with the app, while 33% were unable to access the website.

Despite ongoing frustration from its users, X did not initially comment on the cause of the disruptions. However, Elon Musk later attributed the issues to a “significant cyberattack.” He stated, “We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved.”

Musk’s remarks came as doubts were raised by cybersecurity experts, who pointed out that similar outages can often be triggered by smaller entities rather than from large coordinated groups.

The latest outage was marked by reports from numerous users expressing confusion over their ability to post while still experiencing issues with new comments refreshing. One user humorously noted, “So X is down but I still found a way to complain about it… on X. The loop is complete.”

On March 27, prior to the March 30 outage, X suffered another significant disruption, with nearly 58,000 users reporting problems at the height of that incident. This included the inability to open notifications or post content, prompting complaints from users about the service’s reliability.

The frequency of these outages raises concerns about the platform’s stability and its ability to handle large-scale user interactions, especially as Musk’s leadership has led to considerable changes in company operations since he acquired Twitter in October 2022 for $44 billion.

While X did not have an official status page for monitoring services, scrutiny has intensified regarding its technological resilience amid these incidents. Users are urged to remain patient as the company navigates through these technical challenges.
