Emma Stone Wins Leading Actress Bafta For 'poor Things' And Stuns On The Red Carpet

Emma Stone expressed her gratitude and humor as she accepted the leading actress BAFTA award for her role in “Poor Things,” thanking key figures like screenwriter Tony McNamara and director Yorgos Lanthimos.

Stone playfully highlighted the impactful line “I must go punch that baby” from the movie, crediting McNamara for the memorable dialogue.

She also showed appreciation for her dialect coach Neil Swain, joking about mastering British pronunciation, a nod to her American roots.

Not forgetting her roots, Stone dedicated part of her speech to her mother, citing her as a key source of inspiration throughout her career.

Having also served as a producer on “Poor Things,” Stone expressed the unique joy of being involved both in front and behind the camera.

The BAFTA win marks Stone’s second, following her previous triumph in 2017 for “La La Land,” opposite Ryan Gosling.

Despite being a strong contender, Stone faced off against notable actresses like Carey Mulligan in “Maestro” and Margot Robbie in “Barbie.”

Next, Stone is gearing up for the Oscars where she’s also up for a best actress award.

“Poor Things,” directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, shared the limelight with Christopher Nolan‘s “Oppenheimer” at the BAFTAs, securing multiple nominations and significant recognition.

While Stone’s victory shone bright, the event itself sparkled with stars including Emily Blunt, Rosamund Pike, and Cate Blanchett among the attendees.

As David Tennant took the hosting reins for the evening, live performances from artists like Saltburn and Sophie Ellis-Bextor added extra flair to the prestigious event.
