Actress Daisy Edgar-Jones Expresses Interest in Revisiting ‘Normal People’ Role
Actress Daisy Edgar-Jones, known for her role as Marianne Sheridan in the hit TV series Normal People, has expressed her interest in revisiting the character in a potential second season. Alongside actor Paul Mescal, who played Connell Waldron in the series, Edgar-Jones shot to fame following the show’s release in April 2020.
The romantic drama, based on the novel by Irish author Sally Rooney, captured the hearts of viewers with its poignant portrayal of the on-off relationship between the characters Marianne and Connell from their school days to university.
Edgar-Jones and Mescal recently teased fans on Instagram about some upcoming news, which turned out to be a charitable initiative involving a special marathon screening of Normal People. The duo have since become global stars, with their on-screen chemistry resonating with audiences worldwide.
Discussing the possibility of a second season, Edgar-Jones deferred to Rooney, stating that it would ultimately depend on the author’s interest in crafting a new storyline for the beloved characters. However, she expressed her enthusiasm for the prospect, highlighting her fondness for the roles of Marianne and Connell.
Since the success of Normal People, Edgar-Jones has ventured into prominent film projects, including Where The Crawdads Sing and the upcoming blockbuster Twisters, in which she stars alongside actors Glen Powell and Anthony Ramos. On the other hand, Mescal has taken on roles in films like All Of Us Strangers, opposite Andrew Scott, and garnered critical acclaim with an Oscar nomination for Aftersun. He is set to appear in the highly anticipated sequel Gladiator II, continuing the story from Ridley Scott’s original film starring Russell Crowe.
