Foreign Minister Penny Wong Marries Long Time Partner In Secret Ceremony

Foreign Minister Penny Wong has recently married her partner of nearly two decades, Sophie Allouache, in a discreet ceremony held at a picturesque winery in the Adelaide Hills.

The intimate event, attended by notable figures including Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and key government officials, took place yesterday and was kept private until Wong shared the news on social media alongside a radiant wedding photo.

According to reports by the Nine newspaper, invitations for the ceremony were sent out just late last year, adding an element of surprise to the affair.

Among the distinguished guests present were the Prime Minister and his partner Jodie Haydon, Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles, Health Minister Mark Butler, and Treasurer Jim Chalmers, highlighting the significance of the event within political circles.

Wong’s two daughters, Alexandra (12) and Hannah (8), partook in the celebration as flower girls, embodying the family-centric nature of the occasion.

The esteemed Labor senator first crossed paths with Allouache back in 2007, and has since been a fervent advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, including her outspoken support for the legalization of same-sex marriage in 2017.

Throughout her tenure in parliament, Wong has been a pioneering voice for equality and inclusivity, using her platform to champion social progress and advocate for the rights of all individuals and families.
