A tragic car crash on the Brand Highway in Western Australia has resulted in the loss of two lives, leading to the former Collingwood player, Shannon John Cox, being charged in connection with the incident. The collision involving a Toyota, a Suzuki hatchback, and a road train occurred around 180 kilometers north of Perth on Friday morning.

Shannon John Cox, aged 38, was allegedly driving the Toyota at the time of the crash, which claimed the lives of two elderly women in their 80s who were in the Suzuki hatchback. A 12-year-old girl who was a passenger in the Toyota sustained minor injuries and was attended to by paramedics at the scene.

The former AFL player, Shannon John Cox, has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death in relation to the fatal crash that took place on the Brand Highway. Cox appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court on Saturday, where he was remanded in custody until his next court appearance scheduled for June 18.

Shannon John Cox had a brief career in the AFL, playing 25 games for the Collingwood team between 2007 and 2009. Following his retirement from professional football, Cox continued to reside in Geraldton’s suburb of Spalding, where the tragic crash in Cooljarloo took place.

Notably, the Western Australian incidents on the Brand Highway, including the fatal crash involving Shannon John Cox, have brought attention to road safety in the region.
