Former Prison Inmate and Abuse Survivor Advocate Russell Manser Passes Away, Leaving a Legacy of Hope and Support
Former inmate Russell Manser, who spent 23 years in prisons across Northern Territory, Queensland, and NSW for bank robberies, has tragically passed away, leaving behind a legacy of resilience and advocacy.
Manser, known for his impactful presence on social media platform TikTok where he shared his experiences as a survivor of sexual abuse, garnered a substantial following of over 130,000 supporters. Through his platform ‘Voice of a Survivor,’ he aimed to provide guidance and support to individuals who had endured similar trauma.
Additionally, Manser hosted ‘The Stick Up‘ podcast, where he engaged in conversations with notable guests such as Australian rapper Ay Huncho, former NRL star Braith Anasta, and businessman Mark Bouris.
Following the news of Manser’s passing, friends and colleagues flooded social media with heartfelt tributes, including lawyer Andrew Carpenter, who described Manser as a dear friend and an inspiration in their shared efforts to advocate for survivors of abuse.
Survivor advocate Harrison James also mourned the loss of Manser, highlighting his profound impact on the survivor community and his dedication to supporting those affected by child sexual abuse.
While the cause of Manser’s death remains undisclosed, reports indicate that he passed away shortly after sharing a video discussing Asian gangs in prison with his followers. His commitment to raising awareness and fostering conversations around mental health and support options, particularly for men, was a central theme in his online presence.
Throughout his journey, Manser frequently collaborated with his 22-year-old son, Ky Manser, in an effort to inspire others to prioritize their mental well-being and seek assistance when needed.
