The Johannesburg High Court postponed the corruption case involving Trevor Mathenjwa and former South African Airways (SAA) board chair Dudu Myeni to November 21. This delay comes as Myeni is currently hospitalized, preventing her from attending court proceedings.

The charges facing Mathenjwa and Myeni are related to corruption and fraud amounting to approximately R300,000, with connections to Bosasa. The Investigating Directorate spokesperson, Henry Mamothame, highlighted the nature of the allegations.

The initial arrest of Mathenjwa and Myeni took place in September last year, with their first court appearance at the Richards Bay magistrate’s court. Subsequently, the case was transferred to the Johannesburg High Court earlier this year. Both individuals are currently out on bail set at R10,000 each.

The accusations against Myeni involve allegations of receiving gratifications from Bosasa’s subsidiary, Sondolo IT, allegedly facilitated by Mathenjwa, the former director of the company. Specifically, Myeni is said to have received security upgrades for her residence in Richards Bay between May 2014 and March 2015, valued at R200,000. Additionally, she is accused of benefiting from hotel accommodation and travel expenses provided by Bosasa totaling over R107,000.

The coverage of the case, along with updates on the postponement, was reported by TimesLIVE, shedding light on the ongoing legal proceedings and the significance of the allegations against the prominent figures involved.
