French-American rapper Lucas Coly, well-known for his rise to fame on social media nearly a decade ago, has passed away at the age of 27. His talent agency, I Discover Stars, confirmed his death on Thursday, although the cause of death remains undisclosed.

In a statement released by I Discover Stars on social media, Coly’s manager expressed deep sorrow, noting he was on the phone with Coly “moments before” his passing. “I have a hole in my heart,” the manager wrote, although he did not share any further details.

Just a day prior to his death, Coly posted a message on his Instagram account, which read simply: “I love y’all.” The post has since drawn significant attention from his followers and fans.

Coly’s passing leaves a void in the social media music scene where he was a prominent figure. He had amassed a significant following, with 1.2 million followers on Instagram and 470,000 subscribers on YouTube as of Thursday, underscoring his influence and popularity.

Born in France in 1996, Coly emigrated to the United States with his family at age eight. He began creating music in the early 2010s, and many of his tracks have gone on to garner millions of views on platforms such as YouTube and SoundCloud. Notable among his works are songs like “I Just Wanna,” “Break Ya Back,” and “Numb,” which have achieved over 19 million, 11 million, and 10 million views, respectively, on YouTube.
