Fujifilm Gfx100rf Camera With Fixed Lens

Tokyo, Japan – Fujifilm has launched its latest medium format camera, the GFX100RF, designed to rival the Leica Q3. Announced on March 20, 2025, this compact camera boasts a lightweight construction and a fixed 35mm lens equivalent to 28mm in full-frame photography, catering to photographers seeking high-quality, versatile equipment.

At a weight of just 1.62 pounds (735 grams), the GFX100RF is the lightest in the GFX series. It offers an impressive 102-megapixel sensor capable of delivering exceptional detail. Fujifilm aims to attract both amateur and professional photographers who demand portability alongside high performance.

The camera is elegantly designed with a top plate crafted from a single block of aluminum, offering both aesthetic appeal and durability. Priced at $4,899.95, the GFX100RF will be available starting in April 2025.

Fujifilm’s fixed f/4 lens has been engineered for close-up versatility, with a minimum focusing distance of 20 centimeters and digital cropping options extending to 45mm, 63mm, and 80mm focal lengths. “By adopting a leaf shutter system instead of a focal plane shutter, the back focus has been shortened,” the company explained. This innovation contributes to the camera’s space-saving design while maintaining functionality, allowing for flash synchronization at any shutter speed.

Despite notable advancements, some features are missing, such as in-body image stabilization (IBIS), which disappointed many potential buyers. “Ditching IBIS likely helped Fujifilm achieve a lighter body,” the company noted, emphasizing that smart design also played a critical role in the overall development.

Photographers can experiment with multiple aspect ratios using the unique aspect ratio dial, offering nine options, including 3:2, 16:9, 1:1, and 17:6. Additionally, the GFX100RF is equipped with a built-in four-stop ND filter, another first for this series, enhancing creative flexibility.

Fujifilm has incorporated a high-resolution 5.76-million dot electronic viewfinder (EVF) and a 3.15-inch touchscreen LCD with 2.1 million dots. Such features cater to users who prioritize both viewing experiences when capturing images.

The introduction of the GFX100RF adds another compelling option for photographers in search of a high-end medium format solution. However, for those who may opt for IBIS and interchangeable lenses, Fujifilm’s GFX 100S II remains an alternative. As the photographic community awaits comprehensive reviews, the appeal of the GFX100RF is evident, particularly among enthusiasts accustomed to the Leica Q series.
