Gerber Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks Recall

ARLINGTON, Va. — Gerber, a leading baby food brand, has issued a nationwide recall of its Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks due to potential choking hazards. The recall, announced on Jan. 31, 2025, affects strawberry apple and banana-flavored products distributed in 45 states and Puerto Rico.

The company initiated the recall after receiving consumer complaints of choking incidents, including one case that resulted in an emergency room visit. The recalled products were sold in 3.2-ounce and 1.59-ounce boxes with specific UPC codes and all lot codes included in the recall. Gerber advised parents and caregivers to stop using the product immediately and return it to the place of purchase for a refund.

“We sincerely apologize for any concern or inconvenience this action represents to parents, caregivers, and retail customers,” Gerber said in a press release. The company is working closely with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on the recall and has pledged full cooperation.

The affected products were distributed via the internet and to retail stores across the U.S., excluding Alaska, North Dakota, Wyoming, and Louisiana. Gerber emphasized that the recall is limited to the strawberry apple and banana flavors of the Soothe N Chew Teething Sticks.

Parents who suspect their child may have been injured or become ill due to the product are urged to contact a healthcare provider. Gerber has also set up a 24/7 customer support line at 1-800-443-7237 for additional assistance.

This is not the first time Gerber has faced a product recall. In 2023, the company mistakenly shipped a recalled product potentially containing harmful bacteria to retailers. Similarly, in 2016, Gerber recalled baby food pouches due to potential spoilage during transport.

Gerber, a subsidiary of Nestlé USA, is one of the most trusted names in baby products. The company has assured customers that it is taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety of its products and prevent future incidents.
