Ghost of Tsushima Receives Major Steam Update and Free DLC
REDMOND, Wash. — Sucker Punch Productions announced a substantial update for Ghost of Tsushima on Steam, significantly improving performance and introducing exciting new features. Released on October 27, 2025, Patch 8 officially verifies the game for the Steam Deck, allowing players to enjoy the acclaimed title on the go.
The update includes a dedicated graphics preset optimized for the handheld console, and the user interface has been adjusted to fit the Steam Deck’s smaller screen. Along with performance upgrades, the Legends mode has been launched as a free downloadable content (DLC), separate from the main game, which ensures better compatibility and stability across various devices.
This modification allows players to engage with the single-player campaign without needing an active PlayStation Network account, addressing previous accessibility issues. Existing players will continue their experience without disruption, but new players must activate the free Legends DLC to access the multiplayer mode.
Nixxes Software, the porting studio behind this update, touted the improvements in the patch notes, highlighting crash fixes and enhanced stability. Players can look forward to a smoother gaming experience, bolstered by recent reports of Ghost of Tsushima’s continued popularity since its original 2019 launch, which sold over one million units in Japan alone.
Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut is also enjoying renewed interest due to the recent release of its sequel, Ghost of Yōtei, which debuted on October 2, 2025. This new installment follows heroine Atsu on a quest for revenge set in the Edo period, capturing attention and topping sales charts shortly after its release.
The successful optimization for the Steam Deck aligns with Sony’s broader strategy of expanding its game library to PC gamers. As the demand for portable gaming devices grows, this update for Ghost of Tsushima stands out as a pivotal move in enhancing cross-platform accessibility.
