Girl Scout Cookies 2025 S'mores Toast Yay

NEW YORK, N.Y. — The 2025 Girl Scout cookie season has officially begun, but it marks the end for two beloved flavors. The Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) announced that the S’mores and Toast-Yay! cookies will be discontinued after this year, joining other retired flavors in the organization’s history.

The S’mores cookie, introduced in 2017, and the French toast-inspired Toast-Yay!, launched in 2021, will no longer be available after this season. GSUSA did not provide a specific reason for the retirements, but the organization frequently refreshes its cookie lineup to keep offerings fresh and exciting.

This year’s cookie season also brings a price increase, with some boxes costing up to $7, a $1 hike from the previous two years. The last price increase occurred in 2023, when GSUSA raised prices to $6 per box, citing rising production and material costs. Prior to that, cookies increased from $4 to $5 in 2015.

“In some instances, councils are faced with the tough decision to raise prices, though prices have remained steady in many areas for a number of years,” a GSUSA spokesperson told CNN. Prices vary by region, ranging from $4 to $7, with specialty products like gluten-free cookies potentially costing more due to higher production expenses.

The cookie program, which includes fan favorites like Thin Mints, Samoas, and Tagalongs, is a critical revenue source for the 112-year-old organization. GSUSA recently announced a 160% increase in membership dues over the next two years, with fees rising to $45 in 2026 and $65 in 2027. The organization is facing financial challenges, projecting a $5.6 million operating loss in 2024.

Despite these challenges, the cookie program remains a cornerstone of the Girl Scouts’ mission, providing girls with opportunities to develop entrepreneurial skills. “The Girl Scout Cookie program provides opportunities to practice and develop entrepreneurial skills, making Girl Scouts more likely to have an entrepreneurial mindset and become entrepreneurs compared to their non-member peers,” the organization stated on its website.

Cookies will be sold at booths starting this week and online through the GSUSA website from February 21 through April. Fans of the retiring flavors are encouraged to stock up before they’re gone for good.
