Globo Expands Local Programming Late at Night in 2026
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – Globo plans to invest in its programming for 2026, focusing on late-night slots. The network aims to provide more space for local programming from its affiliates, featuring regional shows and attractions.
According to journalist Gabriel de Oliveira, the new programs are expected to air in the current time slots of the rebroadcast of the novela ‘Dona de Mim‘ and the ‘Comédia na Madrugada’ segment. If the affiliates do not have plans to take over the late-night time, the existing shows will continue to be broadcast.
Previously, the sharing of late-night slots occurred primarily for legal compliance with partnerships. Since 2022, Globo has aired reruns of its popular programs right after ‘Conversa com Bial,’ starting with ‘Cara e Coragem.’ These reruns have maintained significant ratings on Ibope during their respective times.
The plans indicate Globo’s commitment to enhancing local content and increasing viewership during the nighttime hours, potentially shifting the landscape of Brazilian television.
