Abe Hamadeh Surveillance Biden Administration

PHOENIX, Ariz. — Republican Rep. Abe Hamadeh revealed to Fox News Digital that he was one of three members of Congress who was surveilled by the now-defunct “Quiet Skies” program of the Biden administration. This assertion came to light following a recent hearing led by Senate Homeland Security Chair Rand Paul, which examined allegations of abuse related to the controversial initiative.

Hamadeh stated he was informed of his surveillance last December, during a critical period when he was contesting the results of the 2022 election for Arizona attorney general. The election was decided by a mere 280 votes out of 2.5 million cast. “It sadly doesn’t surprise me,” he expressed, emphasizing his concerns regarding how conservative viewpoints were being targeted in various sectors, including banking and social media.

The timing of the surveillance raised questions for Hamadeh, who noted, “You don’t know if that was a factor.” He relayed his view that the political environment, marked by accusations against Republicans as “MAGA fascists” and threats to democracy, heightened the hostility he faced.

Hamadeh, who has a background as a U.S. Army Reserve intelligence officer with top secret clearance, remarked on the peculiarity of his surveillance given his military credentials. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officially terminated the Quiet Skies program in June, stating it had become overly politicized and failed to prevent any terrorist attacks.

“It is clear that the Quiet Skies program was used as a political rolodex of the Biden Administration,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem stated, calling for a congressional investigation to uncover potential corruption and threats to national security.

Paul indicated that while he supports the program’s termination, more needs to be done to ensure such surveillance does not resume. “Every official who directed or approved surveillance of Americans for protected speech must be removed from office,” he asserted. “We must ensure transparency in government actions concerning citizens,” he added.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Biden administration for a response but did not receive a comment.
