Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms Expected in Baltimore This Thursday

BALTIMORE, Md. — Periods of heavy rain, isolated lightning, and thunderstorms are expected across the Baltimore region on Thursday. Meteorologist Alena Lee predicts rain and patchy fog this morning before showers taper off by midday.
The best chances for isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms will occur this evening from 6 to 11 p.m. Any thunderstorms that develop could turn severe, posing a low risk for damaging winds. There is also a slight chance for a tornado, based on the latest forecasts from the Storm Prediction Center.
Rain is already moving through the area, with live radar showing widespread precipitation along major highways including I-90, I-83, and I-95. Forecast models indicate light to moderate showers will persist throughout the morning.
As temperatures rise into the upper 70s later today, any clearing in the skies could increase instability, enhancing the potential for severe thunderstorm development. Despite the risks, it is important to note that not everyone will experience rain or severe weather.
Tonight, isolated showers may linger after the thunderstorms taper off around midnight, leading to mostly cloudy skies with temperatures dropping to the mid-60s. The area will see limited rainfall throughout the weekend, with rain possible on Saturday evening and early Sunday.
Residents are reminded to stay aware of severe weather warnings through local news outlets, as storm conditions could lead to power outages by knocking down tree limbs onto power lines. Baltimore Gas and Electric encourages customers to report outages through various means such as their website or mobile app.
