Hollywood Icon Keanu Reeves and Producer Fisher Stevens Co-Producing Benny ‘The Jet’ Urquidez Documentary
Hollywood action star Keanu Reeves and Academy Award-winning producer Fisher Stevens are teaming up to co-produce an upcoming documentary shining a light on the legendary kickboxing icon Benny ‘The Jet’ Urquidez.
Known as ‘The Jet’ for his explosive spinning back kick, Urquidez’s life and legacy will be the focus of the documentary currently in production. The project is under the guidance of Emmy-nominated filmmaker Jennifer Tiexiera, recognized for her work in sports documentaries.
Backed by the newly established Unapologetic Projects, led by Chris Quintos Cathcart and Tyler Boehm, and Stevens’ own production company Highly Flammable, the documentary is scheduled for release in 2025.
Benny ‘The Jet’ Urquidez not only made a mark in the martial arts world with his unmatched skills but also left a lasting impact on Hollywood. Over the years, he trained and collaborated with top stars such as Jackie Chan, Muhammed Ali, and Nicole Kidman.
Emphasizing Urquidez’s journey from adversity to triumph, Jennifer Tiexiera highlighted how his fighting career was a result of his struggles with identity, poverty, and race but ultimately transformed into a story of love, spirituality, and a deeper meaning.
Expressing his excitement for the project, Keanu Reeves stated, ‘Benny is a true mentor who has had a profound yet often overlooked influence on both the world of cinema and martial arts. I am thrilled to help share his story with audiences worldwide.’
