Horiba, the renowned provider of medical diagnostic solutions, has introduced a cutting-edge line of compact haematology analysers featuring the innovative Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) capability. These new models, including the Yumizen H550E autoloader, H500E CT closed tube, and Yumizen H500E OT open tube analysers, now integrate ESR testing along with complete blood count (CBC) and 5-population white blood cell differential (DIFF) functionalities.

The integration of ESR testing into these compact analysers is made possible through Horiba’s proprietary ‘CoRA‘ technology. This unique feature adds rapid ESR results from whole blood samples in just 60 seconds, providing a comprehensive profile for assessing inflammatory diseases in patients. By combining multiple tests in one instrument, these analysers help reduce costs per test, streamline turnaround times, and save valuable laboratory space.

Horiba’s ESR technology, known as ‘CoRA,’ is the centerpiece of the company’s latest haematology offerings. With calibrated ESR results to the Westergren reference method, these analysers elevate the efficiency and accuracy of diagnostic testing in clinical settings.

Moreover, the Yumizen H550E and H500E models have been enhanced with advanced connectivity options for streamlined data management. Through Horiba’s Yumizen P8000 middleware and Yumicare support tool, laboratories can benefit from remote monitoring of instrument workload, reagent usage, quality control measures, and alarms.

Notably, the Yumizen H550 range introduces new technologies like i-DoubleDiff, which leverage artificial intelligence to expedite diagnoses. These technologies enable the analyser to flag potential infectious diseases such as malaria and dengue fever promptly, making it a valuable tool for various healthcare settings, from advanced facilities to resource-constrained environments.

This latest iteration of the Yumizen H550 range expands the analytical capability from 27 to 37 parameters, catering to a broader range of clinical needs. With only two reagents required, these analysers offer an extended suite of tests, including oncology capabilities, providing deeper insights into patient health.

In the words of Arnaud Pradel, the President of Horiba ABX SAS, ‘The new analysers are designed to meet the growing demand for affordable, robust, and versatile haematology solutions with reliable connectivity features suitable for laboratories of all sizes. The Yumizen H550 range continues to evolve to address diverse clinical laboratory needs while ensuring simplicity of operation.’

Horiba’s Yumizen H550 range, known for its technological advancements, affordability, reliability, and user-friendly design, finds applications across a spectrum of clinical settings. From critical care and oncology facilities to blood banks, satellite laboratories, and health centers, these analysers offer a valuable tool for comprehensive diagnostic testing.
