Houston Braces for Chilly Weather: Multiple Cold Fronts Expected This Month
Houston is experiencing a significant drop in temperatures as a series of cold fronts are expected to hit the region over the next week. As of Thursday, November 14, temperatures have already dipped into the low-to-mid 50s in the morning, with a north breeze making it feel even cooler.
A cool front that arrived on Wednesday night has brought pleasant fall-like temperatures for the weekend, with highs in the mid-70s and lows in the 50s. However, this is just the beginning of a cooler trend. A stronger cold front is anticipated to arrive early next week, which could bring the coldest air of the season so far to Texas.
Long-range forecast models indicate that there could be at least one or two strong cold fronts through the end of November. The upcoming cold front, expected around mid-week, is predicted to bring temperatures down significantly, with lows in the 40s and highs in the 60s. This chilly weather could persist for several days if the jet stream pattern verifies.
In addition to the cold fronts, the region is also keeping an eye on a tropical disturbance in the Caribbean, although it is not expected to affect Texas. Instead, it could potentially threaten Caribbean communities, the Bahamas, and Florida as a hurricane.
The dry weather is expected to continue through Saturday night, but a storm system due on Sunday and Monday could bring scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms across Texas. This system may result in a couple of inches of rain in the northern half of the state, although the severe thunderstorm threat appears to be minimal at this point.
