Houston Braces for Chilly Weather: Multiple Cold Fronts Expected This Month
Houston is experiencing a significant drop in temperatures as a series of cold fronts are expected to hit the region over the next week. As of Thursday, November 14, temperatures have already dipped into the low-to-mid 50s in the morning, with a north breeze making it feel even cooler[2].
A cool front that arrived on Wednesday night has brought pleasant fall-like temperatures for the weekend, with highs in the mid-70s and lows in the 50s. However, this is just the beginning of a cooler trend. A stronger cold front is anticipated to arrive early next week, which could bring the coldest air of the season so far to Texas[2].
Long-range forecast models indicate that there could be at least one or two strong cold fronts through the end of November. The upcoming cold front, expected around mid-week, is predicted to bring temperatures down significantly, with lows in the 40s and highs in the 60s. This chilly weather could persist for several days if the jet stream pattern verifies[1].
In addition to the cold fronts, the region is also keeping an eye on a tropical disturbance in the Caribbean, although it is not expected to affect Texas. Instead, it could potentially threaten Caribbean communities, the Bahamas, and Florida as a hurricane.
The dry weather is expected to continue through Saturday night, but a storm system due on Sunday and Monday could bring scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms across Texas. This system may result in a couple of inches of rain in the northern half of the state, although the severe thunderstorm threat appears to be minimal at this point.
