India Covid 19 Update June 2025

NEW DELHI, India — As of 8 AM on Monday, June 2, India’s active COVID-19 cases stand at 3,961, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The toll of COVID-19 deaths in the country since January has now reached 32, with four fatalities reported over the weekend.

In the last 24 hours, health authorities recorded 203 new COVID-19 cases. Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Kerala each reported one death, while Delhi also logged 47 new cases, making its active case count 483. Kerala recorded 35 new cases, raising its active cases to 1,435, while Maharashtra reported 21 new infections, increasing its active cases to 506. West Bengal added 44 new cases, bringing its total to 331.

Union Minister of State for Health and AYUSH, Prataprao Jadhav, emphasized the government’s preparedness to tackle the rising cases. He stated, “Both our Central Health Department and the AYUSH Ministry are fully alert and closely monitoring the situation across all states. We’ve reviewed the infrastructure developed during earlier COVID waves, such as oxygen plants and ICU beds, and have already begun preparations.”

In response to the ongoing situation, the Karnataka Health Department issued a circular advising schools to take health precautions for students. The circular urges that children showing symptoms like fever, cough, or cold should stay home and receive proper medical attention.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) noted that the current COVID-19 wave is mostly driven by Omicron sub-variants, and that infections remain “generally mild.” Health officials reassured the public that there is no immediate cause for concern.
