Instagram App Outage

New York, NY – Instagram is experiencing a significant outage affecting users across the United States and the United Kingdom. Reports began flooding in around 2:30 p.m. GMT on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, with users unable to access the app.

According to Downdetector, a website that tracks outages, over 1,000 users had logged complaints by that time. In the U.S., approximately 60% of users reported being unable to access the app. Additionally, 31% experienced login problems, while 9% faced issues while scrolling their feeds. Despite the widespread disruption, Instagram has yet to comment on the situation.

In a related note, earlier on April 22, another tech giant, Zoom, confirmed it had resolved its own global outage that affected services like video calls and web access. At its peak, over 32,000 users reported issues until the problems were addressed by about 5 p.m. EDT.

Zoom noted that the outage began around 2:30 p.m. EDT, with 46% of complaints related to the website, 36% to the app, and 18% to login difficulties. The company advised users experiencing ongoing issues to flush their DNS cache to reconnect.

In another incident a few days prior, on April 16, Spotify faced an outage affecting users in both the U.S. and Europe. Users began reporting difficulties with streaming music early Wednesday morning, prompting the company to acknowledge the issue on its official Status account on X, stating, “We’re aware of some issues right now and are checking them out.” By 8:45 a.m. ET, Spotify confirmed it was investigating the matter.

As outages continue to affect multiple platforms, users have turned to alternatives like YouTube while they await fixes.
