Israeli Air Strikes In Southern Lebanon Worsen Humanitarian Crisis In Gaza

Israeli forces conducted two air strikes in the coastal town of Ghaziyeh in southern Lebanon, escalating tensions with Hezbollah. State reports indicate that these strikes targeted a warehouse and a factory, leading to injuries among 14 individuals.

Following the air strikes, Hezbollah retaliated with attacks on Israeli posts in the Shebaa Farms border area, further fueling the conflict between the two factions. The ongoing hostilities worsen the already dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza, exacerbating the food shortage and endangering children’s lives.

The UN and the Global Nutrition Cluster have issued warnings about the escalating situation in Gaza. Reports reveal that over 90% of children under five in Gaza face severe food poverty, with malnutrition rates reaching alarming levels in different regions such as Rafah and Khan Younis.

Within Gaza, the acute malnutrition rate has risen significantly, indicating a deteriorating health situation for the population. The flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza has been severely restricted, exacerbating the crisis.

In response to the escalating conflict, the US has proposed a UN Security Council resolution calling for a temporary ceasefire. The resolution aims to mitigate the impact on civilians and prevent further casualties in the region.
