Jaya Amitabh Bachchan Set to Contest for Fifth Term as Samajwadi Party MP in Rajya Sabha
Film actress Jaya Amitabh Bachchan, renowned for her candid expressions, is gearing up to contest for a fifth consecutive term as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, representing the ‘aadhi abadi’ sector.
Jaya, a recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri award, has been a stalwart for the Samajwadi Party, holding the mandate since 2004, and continues to be a prominent voice in the upper house.
According to her recently filed affidavit, Jaya, along with her husband Amitabh Bachchan, jointly commands a significant wealth, collectively owning assets totaling Rs 1,578 crore.
The actress has accumulated her wealth through various avenues, including endorsement deals, her salary as an MP, and professional fees. On the other hand, Amitabh’s income sources include interest, rent, dividends, capital gains, and revenue from a solar plant.
Delving into their assets, Jaya possesses jewelry amounting to Rs 40.97 crore and a luxury sedan valued at Rs 9.82 lakh. Meanwhile, Amitabh boasts jewelry worth Rs 54.77 crore and an impressive fleet of 16 vehicles, including two Mercedes and a Range Rover, with a total value of Rs 17.66 crore.
The power couple jointly owns movable assets worth Rs 849.11 crore and immovable properties valued at Rs 729.77 crore, reflecting their substantial financial standing.
Aside from the Bachchans, the Samajwadi Party boasts other notable figures, such as Ramji Lal Suman, recently appointed as a national general secretary by Akhilesh Yadav. Suman, with immovable assets worth Rs 1.85 crore, showcases his dedication despite modest income levels.
Furthermore, Alok Ranjan, a former bureaucrat potentially making history by representing the SP in the Rajya Sabha, reports an annual income of Rs 89.24 lakh in 2021-22. With a combined property worth around Rs 12.39 crore alongside his wife Surabhi Ranjan, Ranjan’s career trajectory signals a significant shift in the party’s representation.
