Kam Jones Arrested After Police Chase in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Kam Jones, a 23-year-old rookie guard for the Indiana Pacers, was arrested on Monday, October 20, following a brief police chase on Interstate 65. The incident occurred around 9:50 a.m. when Indiana State Police attempted to pull Jones over for alleged erratic driving.
According to the police, Jones did not stop right away and led officers on a short pursuit that concluded near the Fletcher Avenue exit in Fountain Square. Authorities took him into custody without any further incidents.
Jones was booked into the Marion County Jail on preliminary charges of reckless driving, a Class A misdemeanor, and resisting law enforcement, which is classified as a level six felony. As of Monday afternoon, he was still in custody.
Jones was drafted 38th overall in this year’s NBA Draft after a standout career at Marquette University. He has yet to make his NBA debut due to a back injury and was expected to play for the Pacers’ G-League affiliate, the Noblesville Boom, when fully recovered.
The Pacers released a statement acknowledging the situation, stating, “We are aware of the situation involving Kam Jones. We are in the process of gathering additional information and will not have any additional comment on the matter at this time.” Jones’s legal situation could impact his future with the team, as he faces arraignment later this week.
