Kate McKinnon Joins Cast of ‘Percy Jackson’ Season 3 as Aphrodite

VANCOUVER, CanadaKate McKinnon has joined the cast of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” for its third season as a recurring guest star. She will portray Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty.

According to the character description, Aphrodite has the ability to alter her appearance based on how she is perceived by others. Additionally, she will only assist Percy Jackson, played by Walker Scobell, once she is assured that he understands the significance of love.

McKinnon is widely known for her role on “Saturday Night Live,” where she was part of the cast from 2012 to 2022. During her tenure, she received 10 Emmy nominations and won two. Her notable work also includes films such as “Bombshell” (2019), “Yesterday” (2019), and the 2016 reboot of “Ghostbusters.” Recently, she was seen as Weird Barbie in Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” (2023) and as Carole Baskin in the limited series “Joe vs. Carole” on Peacock.

Looking ahead, McKinnon will feature in Andrew Stanton‘s upcoming sci-fi film for Hulu titled “In the Blink of an Eye.” She is represented by CAA and other agencies.

“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” is adapted from Rick Riordan‘s popular book series, which Riordan developed into a television series alongside showrunners Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz. The series first premiered in 2023, with the second season set to debut on December 10. Currently, Season 3 is in production in Vancouver and will be based on the book “The Titan's Curse.” The main cast includes Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Charlie Bushnell, Dior Goodjohn, and Daniel Diemer.
