Mamata Banerjee Sustains Head Injury In Car Accident

West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, sustained a minor head injury after her car met with an accident. The incident occurred when her car abruptly stopped to avoid a collision with another vehicle, according to a senior official quoted by ANI.

Mamata Banerjee, who was seated in the front beside the driver, hit her head on the windscreen, resulting in the injury. She was brought back to Kolkata where she is currently undergoing treatment for the head injury.

Soon after her return to Kolkata, Mamata Banerjee briefed the media about her health and discussed the accident. “I can sense a fever coming. I am also feeling cold. A vehicle suddenly came before my car. It was a speeding vehicle. I survived due to the applying of hand brakes and sustained an injury just on the head. Police will do its work. I will not go to the hospital. I am feeling cold, I am going home,” said Banerjee.

Mamata Banerjee had traveled to Purba Bardhaman in West Bengal to chair an administrative review meeting earlier in the day. In response to the news of her accident, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh wished her a speedy recovery.

Furthermore, Mamata Banerjee announced that her party, Trinamool Congress (TMC), will fight alone in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Bengal. This decision came after disagreements over seat-sharing between TMC and Congress. Banerjee expressed that there were no discussions between her and the Congress party, affirming that the TMC would defeat the BJP alone in Bengal.

She also mentioned that she was not informed about Rahul Gandhi‘s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra passing through Bengal, indicating a lack of coordination between the TMC and Congress.

The discord over seat-sharing has been a longstanding issue between Mamata Banerjee’s TMC and the Congress party. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the state Congress chief, has been a vocal critic of Banerjee, adding to the tension between the two parties.
