Maria Grazia Chiuri Departs Dior After Nearly Ten Years

ROME, Italy — Maria Grazia Chiuri is leaving her position as creative director of Dior after nearly ten years, the brand announced in a press release on May 29, 2025. Chiuri has been at the helm since July 2016, making history as the first woman to lead the renowned French fashion house.
“After nine years, I am leaving Dior, delighted to have been given this extraordinary opportunity,” Chiuri said in a statement. She expressed gratitude to Bernard Arnault for his trust and to Delphine Arnault for her support during her tenure. Chiuri emphasized the importance of her team, stating, “Their talent and expertise allowed me to realize my vision of committed women’s fashion.”
Chiuri’s time at Dior was marked by a blend of the brand’s iconic heritage and her unique perspective. She showcased a distinct style that resonated on red carpets and beyond. Noteworthy moments included the 2021 Met Gala, where model Cara Delevingne wore a vest reading “Peg the Patriarchy.” Chiuri’s designs often involved a modern twist on classic silhouettes, embodying a casual elegance with graphic tees and skirts.
Her final collection, Dior Resort 2026, was presented in Rome at historical landmarks. The show featured soft, romantic silhouettes and celebrated Chiuri’s artisanal craftsmanship, along with significant use of white in many pieces. This choice symbolized a clean slate for Chiuri and the brand as she departs.
Renowned actress Natalie Portman wore a white silk jacket and tiered dress from Chiuri’s last collection. Other attendees, including Alexandra Daddario and Rosamund Pike, showcased stunning white pieces, creating a cohesive theme for the show.
Delphine Arnault, chairman and CEO of Christian Dior Couture, praised Chiuri, stating, “She has written a key chapter in the history of Christian Dior.” Though Chiuri’s departure marks a significant transition for the brand, the separation is amicable, leaving fans curious about her next steps and who will succeed her at Dior.
