Massive Bronze Sculpture Installed in Times Square

NEW YORK, May 5, 2025 — A striking 12-foot tall bronze sculpture by artist Thomas J. Price was unveiled in Times Square on Monday. The sculpture, titled “Grounded in the Stars,” stands on the north side of Duffy Square, facing 47th Street, and will be displayed until June 17.
This artwork is part of a larger series that aims to challenge traditional notions of identity and representation. It invites passersby to engage with the piece, a departure from the existing statues of men in the area. Price’s work features a woman in everyday clothing, presenting her in a poised stance reminiscent of Michelangelo’s David.
“Times Square stands as an iconic symbol and site of convergence, uniting people from all walks of life,” Price said in a statement. “I hope ‘Grounded in the Stars’ encourages meaningful connections and prompts deeper reflection around the human condition and cultural diversity.”
Alongside the sculpture, visitors can enjoy another of Price’s creations, the “Man Series.” This includes stop-motion animations displayed on neighborhood billboards nightly throughout May, further emphasizing the value of individual experiences and representation in society.
Price’s work encourages a dialogue about identity and promotes inclusivity at one of New York City’s busiest intersections.
