Matt Gaetz Faces Renewed Scrutiny as Court Documents Reveal Allegations

Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz is once again under intense scrutiny following the release of new court documents, which allege his involvement in a 2017 party involving illegal drugs and a minor. This development comes amidst ongoing investigations by the House Ethics Committee into the Florida lawmaker’s actions.

According to sources, the documents contain affidavits from three witnesses who claim to have seen Gaetz at a party hosted by Chris Dorworth, a lobbyist and close associate of Gaetz. The filings, as reported by NOTUS, detail a gathering where attendees allegedly engaged in drug use with substances such as cocaine and ecstasy, and participated in sexual activities with an underage girl, identified only as A.B.

One witness, referred to in the filings as K.M., provided a sworn statement that described the presence of the teenage girl, who was reportedly naked at the event. Another witness, previously identified as Gaetz’s former girlfriend, corroborated his attendance through geolocation data. Chris Dorworth has denied these claims, telling NOTUS via text that he never met the girl in question and alleging falsehoods about Matt Gaetz.

The allegations come on the heels of information revealed in a 2021 confession letter by Joel Greenberg, a former Seminole County tax collector, who is currently serving an 11-year sentence after pleading guilty to multiple charges, including sex trafficking. In his letter, Greenberg detailed financial transactions and claimed that he and Gaetz engaged in sexual activities with minors, which were facilitated through various payment methods including Venmo.

Despite these allegations, Gaetz has not been criminally charged. Federal prosecutors chose not to charge him after Greenberg’s arrest in 2020, citing issues with the credibility of potential witnesses. Gaetz has consistently denied any wrongdoing, and his legal representatives have not issued statements regarding the latest claims.

The House Ethics Committee’s investigation, which had been paused due to the Department of Justice’s involvement, has been reignited and continues to explore whether Gaetz engaged in sexual misconduct and other unethical behaviors, including obstruction of governmental investigations and drug use.

In the political arena, Gaetz has sparked controversy with his remarks supporting former President Donald Trump‘s disputed claims and unfounded allegations regarding education and children’s rights. This stance has connected him with broader Republican rhetoric that detractors say lack factual basis.
