Meryl Streep And Martin Short On Set Of Only Murders In The Building

Meryl Streep and Martin Short have been making waves with their undeniable chemistry both on and off the screen in the Hulu series ‘Only Murders in the Building‘. According to John Hoffman, the co-creator of the show along with Steve Martin, the rapport between Streep and Short has been nothing short of “unbelievable”.

Streep joined the cast in season 3 as Broadway star Loretta Durkin, who develops a romantic relationship with Short’s character Oliver Putnam. This storyline has been particularly impactful for Streep, who expressed her gratitude to Hoffman after shooting a scene on a ferry. She had tears in her eyes and thanked him for the opportunity to play such a role, saying it was “the greatest thing ever” to play romantic scenes at her age in such a unique way.

Despite the strong onscreen chemistry, both Streep and Short continue to deny any romantic involvement in real life. They have been spotted together at various events, including the premiere of Season 4 and the Golden Globes, but insist they are just very close friends. Short’s representative has also clarified that they are “just very good friends, nothing more”.

Hoffman’s observations highlight the joy and laughter that Streep and Short share both during filming and off the set. He described the experience of watching them work together as one of the most gratifying things, hoping that the world would fall in love with their characters as much as the crew has.
