Miami Dolphins Sign Veteran Quarterback Huntley
The Miami Dolphins have signed a veteran backup quarterback from the Baltimore Ravens‘ practice squad, according to a report by NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero. Dolphins’ Head Coach Mike McDaniel confirmed the signing on Monday. This move comes as the team seeks stability in their quarterback lineup due to ongoing injuries.
The 2022 Pro Bowl quarterback moves to Miami to provide the team with experienced coverage following the latest injury to their starting quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa. With Tagovailoa in concussion protocol, the Dolphins have turned to their other quarterback, Thompson, to start against Seattle. The addition of Huntley ensures that the Dolphins have a dependable backup in case of any issues.
Huntley began the 2024 NFL season with the Cleveland Browns but was released after the team reduced its roster to 53 players. Returning to Baltimore, where he has spent his four-year NFL career, Huntley rejoined the Ravens as a member of their practice squad. The latest move marks his second change in teams within a month.
As Huntley moves to Miami, he faces the challenge of quickly learning McDaniel’s dynamic offense to be ready if needed. His ability to adapt and integrate into the Dolphins’ gameplay will be critical for providing quarterback depth in the upcoming games.
