Milwaukee Tool Recalls M18 Chainsaws Over Laceration Risk
BROOKFIELD, Wisconsin — Milwaukee Tool is recalling nearly 100,000 of its M18 FUEL Top Handle Chainsaws after discovering that the chain brake may fail to activate, creating a serious laceration hazard for users. The recall affects approximately 90,860 chainsaws in the United States and an additional 7,500 in Canada.
The recalled chainsaws have catalog number 2826-20 and are available with either a 12-inch or 14-inch bar. Consumers can identify the affected units by the letter “A” in the fourth position of the serial number. The chainsaws were sold at Home Depot and various other home improvement stores from March 2023 through September 2024, with prices ranging from about $350 for the bare tool to $790 for kits that include batteries and a charger.
Milwaukee Tool has reported two incidents involving the malfunctioning chain brake, including one case that resulted in a lacerated finger. Consumers are urged to stop using the chainsaws immediately and contact Milwaukee Tool for a free repair. Owners can register for repair and receive a prepaid shipping label through the company’s website.
