A Minnesota resident has entered a guilty plea in a case involving inappropriate conduct with two teenage boys during a hotel stay with her family. Allison Schardin, aged 39, admitted to third-degree criminal sexual conduct on Friday following an earlier plea of not guilty to the serious allegations in May, as reported in various legal complaints.

Schardin, who lives in Blaine, Minnesota, was on a “staycation” at a hotel with her husband and two children on January 14 when she approached two teenage athletes traveling from Colorado for competition. According to official reports, Schardin initiated a conversation with the teens while they were all in a hotel hot tub.

The charges indicate that Schardin’s husband, who was also at the hotel, called out to her loudly when she was in the hot tub, declaring, “If you don’t come upstairs, our relationship is over.” Despite this, Schardin proceeded to exchange contact information with these individuals and later sent them messages requesting to visit their hotel room following a disagreement with her spouse.

Documents allege Schardin told the teenagers they could be her children and subsequently coerced them into sexual activity while a third boy watched, as detailed in the legal filings. One of the victims described feeling trapped in the situation and reported being unsure of how to decline her advances, mentioning he only acquiesced despite not fully agreeing.

The events unfolded further the next day when Schardin reportedly sought out the boys at an ice rink where they were playing a game, which made them anxious and fearful as per the victims’ statements in the complaint.

After returning home, the teenagers received further communication from Schardin, during which she implored one not to disclose the incident to authorities and apologized to the other for visiting their room uninvited.

Following these developments, Schardin confessed to engaging with the youth in their hotel room and having sexual contact with two of them. She acknowledged in police interviews asking if one had a condom, though she claimed she did not intend to follow through with the act described, quoting Law & Crime’s examination of the case.

As part of a plea agreement, Schardin will face reduced charges with a maximum potential jail sentence of eight months. Additionally, she is required to register as a predatory sex offender as per court documentation. Her sentencing hearing is scheduled for January 10, 2025.
