Mlb Postseason 2025 Stanford Alumni Players

LOS ANGELES, CA — The MLB postseason has kicked off, with 12 teams vying for the ultimate prize: the World Series championship. These teams are focused on one goal—bringing a title back to their respective cities. The Los Angeles Dodgers, looking to defend their title, face stiff competition from teams eager to dethrone last year’s champions.

Among those looking to make an impact in the playoffs are four former Stanford Cardinal stars. Representing various roles, including playing, managing, and executive positions, these alumni are set to showcase their talents in this prestigious tournament. Stanford’s presence is strong across both the American League and National League, affirming its long-standing reputation as a formidable baseball school.

The Dodgers, now playoff veterans, are back for their 13th consecutive season and clinched the NL West title for the 12th time in 13 years. Edman, an essential player for the Dodgers, was pivotal during the regular season and is the reigning NLCS MVP. The Dodgers will face the Cincinnati Reds in the Wild Card round.

Meanwhile, the Chicago Cubs, who are back in the postseason for the first time since 2020, will take on the San Diego Padres. Hoerner, a key player for the Cubs, has made a name for himself, hitting .297 with 61 RBIs this season while showcasing his skills defensively.

Manager A.J. Hinch has also steered the Detroit Tigers into the playoffs, marking the team’s return since their last World Series appearance in 2012. The Tigers are set to face the Cleveland Guardians in the Wild Card round after a rocky finish to the season.

Sam Fuld has been instrumental in the Philadelphia Phillies organization since 2021 and is gearing up for a bigger role after he graduates with his MBA next year.

Austin Slater, after a trade deadline move to the New York Yankees from the San Francisco Giants, hopes to contribute despite a recent injury setback. Having returned from the injured list, Slater is ready to assist the Yankees in their playoff run.

As the postseason unfolds, all eyes will be on these Stanford alumni as they strive to make their mark and achieve baseball’s highest honor.
